-----------------------------------------------------------

This week went pretty fast.  It probably has something to do with me being sick the past two days and spending as much time as possible in bed.  I'm starting to feel better now (just in time for the weekend!) and I'm EXTREMELY relieved!

Today is Nate's last day of school - which means Summer has OFFICIALLY begun!  I'm thrilled that I won't be running to the bus stop in the mornings anymore.  I can't believe how tough that was now and then . . . it got old REALLY quick!

Today, though, it comes to an end . . . at least until next school year when I will have a FIRST grader AND a KINDERGARTNER!!!  Maybe I'll find that pause button sometime over the summer.  :)

First Day of School - I will have to take one today to compare!

Sometime in the middle of the year

I'm pretty sure I've spent HOURS staring at this corner (if you add up all the time waiting for the bus in the morning and after school!)

So, I guess you would say that TODAY is the BEST day EVER this week!  :)

Here's to the beginning of an AWESOME summer!

--------------------------------------------------------
I am thrilled that the girls first Summer break week coincides with my week of PMS.  Wow, my patience level is very low. I'm trying my very best to be conscious about it and hold myself back. Also there is the smallest possible chance that the Mister will be gone for an overnight trip this weekend. For me, that isn't good news. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity--he probably shouldn't miss it--but I am praying against it...so for my husband, whose co-worker calls me "Saint Christine",  that isn't good news.*

If you run into me this weekend and I seem edgy, you will know why.

But this is about the best day ever this week, not the most dreaded.

The last day of school was pretty awesome--for all of the promise it holds:

We made it a whole twenty four hours before the chorus of "what are we going to do today?" set in. I am not a fan of the cruise director aspect of mommyhood.  If it were up to me we would get our work done in the morning and spend the rest of the day blowing in the wind. Having a plan is good though. That's why sitting down to make a summer bucket list is a great idea. It's already come in handy! We took a walk, blew bubbles, started a new summer read-aloud book (The Complete Adventures of the Borrowers), and headed to the Zoo (the family membership pays for itself after just two visits--love that!):

Real flamingos

NOT a real leopard
Sea Lions
I love that the Sea Lions underwater are the last exhibit you see at our zoo. They are so playful. The younger sea lions were playing with the kids. One girl had a water bottle that she was moving in a circle at the glass and the sea lions would follow it and flip and turn at her command. It was fascinating. I  could have watched all day--but nap time was upon us and toddler meltdown was about to commence. By the time we got home, rain showers rolled in so it was perfect timing! And it proved to be the BEST day ever this week!

*Apparently, my nickname holds. My husband will not be having his once-in-a-lifetime this weekend, although I really and truly feel sad about the circumstances.
