Hi Dana! What do you have in your cup this morning?
Coffee, of course It's a must-have for every morning!
Coffee, of course It's a must-have for every morning!
Welcome to The Sunday Sip. Please introduce yourself to our readers:
I have been a pediatric occupational therapist for 6 years. I love my job! I definitely feel like
the kids I work with have given more to me than I have to them. They have taught me so
much about patience, compassion, unconditional love and, of course, creativity! Those
children, along with my own beautiful little girl, are the inspiration behind my blog.
How did you come up with the title of your blog? Why did you choose your "Embrace Your
Chaos"?
Going back to Question #2, the title of my blog, Embrace Your Chaos, came from talking
with the families of the children I work with and experiencing my own life with a husband,
child, and household to maintain. Life with kids is chaotic but it's within that chaos that we
make the memories that last a lifetime. So, instead of worrying about being perfect, get
messy, have fun, and embrace your chaos!
You may have some new readers to your blog today. Tell us, what is one post that you
don't want us to miss--and what was your inspiration for that post?
"It's a Different World" is one of the first blogs I wrote but it is really the basis of my blog
Today's society is drastically different than the one in which we grew up. Children have less
exposure to nature, less time to play independently, and less need to get creative in order to
entertain themselves. Also, school expectations continue to grow each year, and with it, our
children are spending more and more time at the table. My blog is meant to get parents and
teachers back to the basis of development. It is through play that our children are meant to
learn to manipulate the world around them, problem-solve, and develop their motor skills.
I would love to see our society get back to this idea and embrace the importance of play!
Right now we see your blog as a place to get a ton of ideas for creative, fun, messy play
that helps youngsters develop all of their senses. I love your recent post My Day of
Pinterest and I can't wait to try the baking soda art project you featured, not to mention the
yummy recipes you share--I can tell they are kid friendly, but yummy enough for the whole
family to enjoy! Have you found your blog style and themes changing over time? Where
do you see your blog going and growing to in the future?
Embrace Your Chaos has and always will be about getting involved with your kids and
helping them grow and develop. I would love to see this blog continue to grow and reach
more and more parents, teachers, therapists, etc. I would also plan to include guest posts in
order to share others' opinions and ideas as well.
Thanks for spending some time with us today. I can't wait to see what other gems you have
in store for us. We can see the passion you bring to your work and your blog and thank you
for sharing it with us. Finally, tell us what makes you "more than a mommy?"
I love the mountains, I love to hike and be outside, and I LOVE Mexican food!
You won't regret clicking over to Embrace Your Chaos right now! I have visions of filling a
pin board with all of her great suggestions for engaging and fun play. Leave Dana some
comment love, share her blog--and tell her "More Than Mommies" sent'cha!
