This week We are pleased to bring you Lauren, from Tutus and Tea Parties. Let's chat:
Hey, I'm Lauren. I blog over at Tutus & Tea Parties about parenting, crafting and a few things in between. I love to play & learn with my little one during the day...but once it's bed time, I get out my fave pink gun (glue gun that is) and get my craft on!
Mommy by day Super Crafter by night? Sounds fun! What's in your cup?
Coffee...always coffee!
We love to hear the story behind blog names. There's usually a process we go through when searching for the perfect name. Why did you choose "Tutus and Tea Parties"?
I didn't sit for days, I don't even think it was hours, coming up with my blog name. (I really should have though.) It was suggested to me by someone and I loved it because I had just had my little girl (well, now she's a big girl) and I thought our life would be all about tutus & tea parties from there on out...and it is!
What is one post that you want everyone who comes to your blog to read and what was your inspiration for writing that post?
Well, I would love people who come by to read my "about me" page. I like sharing a little of my personality in my posts, but this page tells you a little bit more about the girl behind the blog. I also have been doing a vlog most Fridays to get a little more personal and connect more with my readers, which I love!
We've thrown around the idea of doing a little vlogging as well. Perhaps that's something we will add in 2013. Right now we see your blog as a place to get to know you and all that you love. I love all of your DIY and crafty posts and I love that you love to take pictures. The Instagram link-up that you recently hosted is awesome! So tell us, why did you start blogging? Has your blog lead you in the direction you wanted it to and where do you see your blog going and growing to in the future?
I originally started a blog to share my crafty/parenting excitement with people who would love it too! My friends weren't parents yet when I had my daughter and no one (besides my mom) is crafty so when I shared with them my projects or homeschooling ideas, I got a "oh, cool" and a change of subject. Talk about a buzz kill! So, I started a blog to share with other parents and crafters, hoping they would be as excited about everything as I am!
My blog has grown so much more than I ever imagined. I didn't start a blog to make money or make a business out of. I do accept sponsors simply for the fact that crafting gets expensive if you are constantly making new projects to share. Other than that, it's just something fun I love doing! I am starting to partner up with brands now and connecting with some pretty awesome blogger peeps. I am loving everything that blogging has brought my way! Hopefully I'll be able to attend a conference next year...I have my eye on the Influence conference. *fingers crossed*
Finally, at More Than Mommies we know that being a Mommy is rewarding and exciting on it’s own but we also know that there is more to every Mommy than her Mommy duties. What do you do during your "me" time? In other words, what makes you "More than a Mommy"?
Me time? What's that?! (just kidding...sort of) I'm super glad that my daughter enjoys crafting just as much as I do! She always wants to help me out or make her own version. She is no longer taking naps so finding "me" time during the day is next to impossible. She also happens to be a night owl so bed time is always a struggle in our home. Once she drifts off into dreamland you can find me either eating Doritos while blogging and catching up on my shows or crafting something for the blog.
Swing by Lauren's blog, Tutus and Tea Parties, and make sure to tell her that More Than Mommies sent you! You can also check her out on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest!
